Web Offset & Newspaper Presses
Roll-fed offset for newspapers, magazines, and high-volume publications — a separate category from sheet-fed
Web offset presses are roll-fed (not sheet-fed) and print at very high speeds for newspapers, magazines, books, and catalogues. India's major newspaper groups — Times of India, Hindustan Times, The Hindu, Jagran, Dainik Bhaskar, Eenadu — run web offset press lines at their printing plants across India. These are distinct from the sheet-fed offset presses covered elsewhere on this page.
- Goss International (USA): Goss Community, Goss Sunday, Goss Magnum — the most common newspaper web offset presses in India. Times of India, Hindustan Times, and many regional newspapers run Goss presses. Goss was acquired by Shanghai Electric in 2010. gossinternational.com ↗
- MAN Roland Web (Germany): Roland Uniset, Roland Colorman, Roland Geoman — commercial web presses for magazines, catalogues, and newspaper supplements. Many India installations at publication printers. Now rebranded as manroland web systems (separate from manroland sheetfed). manroland-web.com ↗
- KBA Cortina / Commander (Germany): KBA's web press range — Cortina waterless newspaper press at select Indian newspaper publishers. See the KBA page for full KBA web press details.
- Mitsubishi Diamond (Japan): Some India newspaper web press installations before their merger with Ryobi into RMGT. See the Mitsubishi page.
Other Offset Brands — Historical India Presence
- Planeta (East Germany / Czech): Planeta Variant and Planeta Rápida series sheet-fed offset presses entered India through the same late Cold War government trade agreements as Adast. Some Planeta presses are still in service at older government printing bureaus and institutional print units. Planeta GmbH was privatised after German reunification and eventually merged with KBA operations — effectively making KBA the successor for Planeta service. Very limited parts availability.
- Solna (Sweden): Solna D series offset presses — some India installations at older printing establishments, particularly in the newspaper sector where Solna's compact offset presses were used for smaller regional publications. Very limited India service currently.
- Goss sheet-fed (USA): Some Goss sheet-fed offset installations in India at larger commercial printers in the pre-2000 era. Goss is primarily a web press manufacturer — see web offset section above.

Adast — the Czech press that entered India through Cold War-era government trade agreements
