Roland DG Corporation was established in 1981 as a spin-off from Roland Corporation (the musical instrument company). Despite sharing the Roland name and Japanese heritage, Roland DG has no business relationship with Roland offset presses (manroland). Roland DG's business is entirely wide format printing, engraving, and cutting — they are one of the world's most recognised wide format brands with a particularly strong position in the India signage, vehicle wrap, and label market.

Why eco-solvent dominates India's outdoor signage market

Eco-solvent inks are petroleum-based inks with lower VOC content than traditional solvent inks — they can be used indoors with ventilation, produce durable outdoor prints (2–5 years), and work on a wide range of vinyl, banner, and film media. In India, eco-solvent is the dominant technology for outdoor advertising, vehicle wraps, building wraps, retail banners, and exhibition graphics because it combines affordability, durability, and wide media compatibility. Roland DG's eco-solvent range — particularly the RF and VG series — has the widest India dealer network of any eco-solvent brand. Roland DG India ↗

Roland DG India: Roland DG has one of the strongest dealer networks for wide format in India — authorised dealers in virtually every major city and dozens of smaller cities. The VersaWORKS RIP software (bundled free with all Roland DG printers) is a significant value-add — it eliminates the cost of a separate RIP for most applications.
Service and inks: ECO-SOL MAX inks available through Roland DG India and authorised dealers. Roland DG's VersaWORKS RIP and media profiles cover hundreds of Indian-market media including local vinyl brands. Strong service network — factory-trained engineers available in all major cities.
Roland DG vs HP Latex in India: Roland DG eco-solvent (TrueVIS) vs HP Latex is India's most common wide format comparison. Key difference: Roland eco-solvent has slightly more VOC (smell during printing) but lower ink cost; HP Latex is odourless but higher upfront cost. For vehicle wraps and outdoor, both are excellent. For indoor retail POP in enclosed spaces, HP Latex is generally preferred.
